On October the 13th IPSC annual award dedicated to the Faculty of Sociology birthday took place at Yerevan State University. IPSC 5th anniversary Award “For Remarkable Input in Developing Sociology in Armenia” was granted to Yerevan State University Faculty of Sociology Dean Dr. Arthur E. Mkrtchyan.

Professor Mkrtchyan has significantly contributed to the development of Sociology in Armenia. Dr. Mkrtchyan’s scope of interests includes Problems of Self-organization of Social Systems, Social Change and Political Transformation in the Republic of Armenia, Ethnic and Political Conflicts, Migration and Diaspora, System theory, Sociology of Education. Professor is Philosophical Society of Armenia, Union of Social Scientists of Armenia board member.

IPSC – Institute for Political and Sociological Consulting announced the first ever award in the field of Sociology in Armenia in 2009. “IPSC Award 2009” was granted to Professor Lyudmila Harutyunyan, the founder of the faculty of Sociology at Yerevan State University. “IPSC Award 2010” was nominated to Professor Dr. Tilman Allert, Professor of Sociology from Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany. Tilman Allert has continuously contributed to the development of sociological network in Armenia, as well as in other South Caucasus countries. In October IPSC organized Professor’s public lecture at American University of Armenia Business Center. “IPSC Award 2011” was nominated to Dr. Maria Zaslavskaya, the first Doctor of the methodology of sociology in Armenia. And the winner of “IPSC Award 2012” was Professor, Doctor, Doctor honoris causa Thomas Luckmann. This highly renowned scientist’s revolutionary ideas significantly contributed to the development of Sociology worldwide, and in Armenia in particular.

Dr. Mkrtchyan’s award was presented by IPSC Senior Research Analyst Samvel Manukyan and Fieldwork Manager Tatevik Jhanyan. IPSC CEO Hovhannes Grigoryan congratulated Arthur Mkrtchyan on “IPSC Award 2013” and the Faculty of Sociology anniversary.
