For the fifth time IPSC is supporting the “Student Scientific Society Conference”! On November the 12th “Student Scientific Society Conference” took place at Yerevan State University. Every year Sociology Department students introduce their independent works in sociology. Lyudmila Harutyunyan’s award goes to three best reports. The award is supported by IPSC – Institute for Political and Sociological Consulting. This year IPSC Qualitative Research Manager Hasmik Arakelyan was in the jury.

Sona Melikjanjan, MA 1st year student, won the 3rd prize and 20,000 AMD. Tatevik Karapetyan, BA 4th year student, won the 2nd prize and 30,000 AMD. And the winner of the “Student Scentific Society Conference” became MA 1st year student Syuzanna Kerobyan for her research in Yerevan center’s image and perception among locals. Her reward was 50,000 AMD.

Also IPSC CEO Hovhannes Grigoryan announced the annual IPSC scholarship . And the 2013 scholarship winner Hasmik Ter-Grigoryan presented her work on “The main in the adaptation process for Syrian-Armenians’’. Few years ago Hasmik, who is 2nd year MA student at the Department of Oriental Studies, was studying in Syria. With the experience she gained and sociological methods and instruments she learned at IPSC Hasmik prepared a very interesting and reliable work, which can serve as a model for a serious research. She herself interviewed 150 respondents and prepared detailed graphs. IPSC Senior Research Analyst Samvel Manukyan helped her during the 6 month period.

Hasmik highlighted causes for migration and also did a sociological research on Syrian-Armenians integration in Armenian society.
